Wallachian cottages

Rural retreats

The idea of the summer/weekend home away from home is quite strong in central/east Europe; and this is one of those regions where people want to get away to!

The Czechs distinguish between two type of second homes: the 'chata' which is specially built for this purpose and is modern and the 'chalupa' which is an older family dwelling now used as a holiday retreat. U Kaplicky is a traditional chalupa - indeed the owner grew up in it, and it has been in the family for generations! Like most of these, it has the original stone walls which keep the place nice and cool in summer and very well insulated in winter!

For larger parties or muiltiple families, we can provide additional houses in the area.
